Happy Birthday To Me!
Front ViewI wasn't going to post pics of the greenhouse until it was all prettied up, but I just couldn't wait. So here she is! Still a few finishing touches to be done, but perfectly functional as is. All those pots sitting outside will go inside once we get the sand poured in the walkway.

Inside Facing the FrontAlready growing a very rare and fragile Monkey Pig.
Today the outside temp was 76*. Nice, right? Inside the greenhut, the mercury was topped out and the humidity was zilch. I wonder what will happen in there if we get more 100* days like we did a month ago? Does it just spontaneously combust? Melt?
Mmmm, almonds for snacking! Working in the greenhut is hungry-making for sure. Oh, stop it. These aren't almonds at all, but they are related. These are peach seeds! First I tried cracking the casings -- you know, the wrinkly pits we're used to seeing -- with a nutcracker. After the first few exploded all over the greenhut, and I had to crawl around in the lava rock looking for the seeds, I switched to smashing them on the stones with a hammer. We'll call that greenhut therapy. And hopefully someday, we'll call these trees.
Happy Birthday to YOU! You and (possibly) Mark are going to have so much fun in that greenhouse. Well...ah-hem... like growing things. Eek. I can't seem to type anything but innuendos. :P
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday and your new baby is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteWe used to vegetable garden quite a bit, but we have the opposite problem -- too hot too fast!
Peas go in the ground in Feb, and we never got them ripe before they burned up! Fall was their only chance.
!!!! - I seem to use a lot of them!!!
