A Little Comparison

We were so hoping our corn would be "knee high by the 4th of July," and it turns out we juuusssttt made it. You can also see here the still-smallish pumpkins, zukes, and squash. The potatoes are flowering behind me, and the beans look puny.

But what a difference 3 weeks make!
Corn more than twice its size, potato greens
dying (this is a good thing), and beans overgrowing their poles,
finally making actual beans, thankyouverymuch.

And here's a little green pumpkin, that even since this photo
about 5 days ago is twice this size, with a lot of little friends.

{That's The Big Guy's hand, not mine, but glad you asked.}

And the zukes? What did you expect?
They're zucchini, and they will not be ignored.
They've been egging on the cukes, too.

  1. Your garden looks great despite the poor weather conditions, our area was the same until some recent rain and then everything went berserk...as well as mosquitos and jap beetles...and flies, oh yes! don't forget the flies...there was even a mouse in the house, which means an early winter (according to my gramma Adams)...lots of love and rain, p0p

  2. We've been watering almost every day yet the conditions are virtually dust bowl like. Rain may be on the way. 80 today and I felt cold in the shade. Big Guy

  3. I see your garden spaces have grown. I love this new bed as you can clearly grow lots of things that take up space and hopefully still keep out those pesky elk. Though those hot days were brutal, I'm guessing they helped jump start the growth on much of your produce. Hopefully the cold snap you are getting this week will not hamper that. Love to see how your garden grows!
