Building A Good Foundation
It's a dream come true coming true. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the floor of our greenhouse. The middle walkway is made of the stones we poured in September 2001 that were our front sidewalk for six years until the house addition turned our front door into a window, and it became the walkway to nowhere. Small side note: The weekend we made these walkway stones was the one after 9/11 that year. I remember working together all weekend listening to the radio, both of us crying often as we toiled. It's weird to think of a sidewalk with sentimentality, but I do, and I'm so glad we were able to salvage the stones for this new project. The lava rock on the sides is saved from our re-done front area. We put weed mat down first, then the pavers and lava rocks, making a permeable floor with heat-retaining stones. There are plenty of pavers left, and I'm planning on doing a nice patio-type deal outside the door of the greenhouse. I'm not sure why the Big Guy has placed the tools in this diamond pattern. He moves in mysterious ways...
